    Deon T Daniels aka DJ Ready D, was born in District Six, Cape Town on 11 December 1968, before the residents there were forcibly removed. Ready D and his family would be moved to Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain towards the end of the forced removals period. His father, however, passed away a year and a half before their forced removal. We discuss DJ Ready D in 2020, his forthcoming new album with JOOX, and development of his art over his year-after-year spanning career.

    Ryan Murgatroyd is an electronic music producer & songwriter from South Africa. Ryan Murgatroyd is starting to see the benefits of an entire lifetime consumed by, and immersed in, electronic music. In 2004 Ryan rose to global prominence when his first ever release, Funk Country, was awarded the accolade of BBC Radio 1’s ‘Essential New Tune’. Shortly after this, Toolroom Records confirmed the signing of another of his singles, ‘Music Make Me Feel’ which gained a lot of attention locally and abroad. Despite this new founded success, Ryan shifted his focus from Europe and devoted his efforts towards his South African projects, including the creation of a chart topping alias and string of successful music education ventures. A decade later, Ryan re-embarked into the European music scene with his release ‘Bantwana's Piano’ on Simon Dunmore‘s Defected Records. With its success, DJ Mag dubbed the release “a towering achievement in the landscape of modern house music”.

    A singer. A cook. An entrepreneur. And most importantly somebody who aspires to be a good human being. His professional career in music started in 2011 when him and his band, Mi Casa released their hit single that went onto win Record of the Year, These Streets. Since then, year after year Mi Casa has maintained relevancy and dominated charts with ridiculous ease. Him and his band have won several awards from around the world and sold multiple platinum records. Mi Casa has traveled to over 30 African countries, toured Europe countless times, and even performed at the second inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington DC.


    It was in the midst of all of this that J started to develop a passion for cooking as a mere hobby from the comfort of his home. In 2014, the singer innocently posted a picture of a meal he had cooked at home using the hashtag #SomethingsCooking, that was when he unintentionally launched his successful career in food. From a hashtag to award TV shows, a 3 times best seller cookbook, to a restaurant as well as cooking alongside world food greats such as Marco Pierre-White, Jan, David Higgs, and many more. The musician/foodie has recently launched Something’s Cooking TV, a youtube platform, so that other food enthusiasts and creatives can have a platform to share their talents with the world. He has consistently spread the message of humility, hard work, and positivity.

    We chat with Tasha Baxter in the height of a world-wide lockdown. Here's a little bit about here.


    Baxter started her career in 2002 as a songwriter with the song 'In the Beginning' that made the UK Top 40 Official Charts. She released her first solo album, Colour of Me in 2007, produced by Noisia under the EMI label. The tracks ‘Who's Sorry Now’, ‘The Journey’, ‘Useless’ and ‘Fade To Black’ appeared on the South African radio top charts list. The two tracks from the album; 'The Journey' and 'Don't Believe in Love' appeared in the 2009 South African movie, "White Wedding".


    In 2010, Baxter performed the song, ‘Cloudburn’ on Feed Me's (Jon Gooch) debut EP on Deadmau5's record label, "Mau5trap". ‘Cloudburn’ was featured on Brian Transeau's (BT) compilation album ‘Laptop Symphony’. In 2011, Baxter performed the song,'Strange Behaviour', co-written and produced by Feed Me, and was released on his EP 'To The Stars' on "Mau5trap". She wrote the song 'Ebb & Flow' that was produced by Jon Gooch and added to his debut album, ‘Calamari Tuesday’, in 2013. The song also appeared on the British TV show, "Youngers".


    In 2014, the song "Snowblind ft. Tasha Baxter" was co-written with record producer, Austin Collins (Au5). Baxter also performed the track and it was released on "Monstercat" label. Snowblind subsequently appeared on the American TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance". The following year, she independently released "Bigger than Me" with Collins as producer.


    In 2016, she was featured again on Monstercat with, "Just A Dream", performing and composing the vocals and lyric melody for the eighth track from Tut Tut Child's Come to the End; Then Stop LP. In 2017, she was a songwriter on Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter V" album on track "Hittas".


    In 2019, Baxter was the featured vocalist on Flux Pavilion ft. Craymak "Saviour" on Circus records.

    Since the release of his debut EP The Calling, 23-year-old multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, James Deacon, has been making his alternative pop prowess known all over radio and streaming.


    After his single ‘Son Of Apollo’ was selected to soundtrack HBO’s 8-week movie promo campaign in America, follow up single ‘HERO aka Rich’ achieved a 6-week stint at #1 on 5FM’s Indie Chart, and Deacon’s work received online tastemaker support from Earmilk, Indie Shuffle and CLASH, to name but a few, as well as three Record Of The Day features in the highly respected industry daily email newsletter.

    Both his debut single “Not Givin’ Up” and his latest single “Reason” were included in the internationally syndicated import radio show Passport Approved, which culminated in him being invited to perform at Musexpo, the lauded international music and media conference, in Los Angeles.


    “Reason” has been playlisted on 947, 5FM, Algoa Fm as well as many others, and has received online support from Amazing Radio.

    On the live front, securing an opening slot for global pop icons a-ha at 6000+ capacity Marks Park Field in Johannesburg, a main stage performance at Park Acoustics Festival and a confirmed main stage performance at Splashy Fen, only reinforce Deacon’s desire to dominate not only the charts, but the stage too, proving that he really is on a scintillating roll.
