Hi, Buckers here. Welcome to Just Make The Bloody Podcast (JMTBP!)

If “start a podcast” has been on your to-do list for ages whilst you tie yourself up in knots with chronic overthinking, we’re going to get along swimmingly.

This is a podcast about podcasting. It is also a podcast about visibility, confidence, and the joy of audio.

This is the trailer, so it’s the actual podcast law (not a thing) that in this first ever installment of JMTBP you get the following:

• Who this podcast is for (it’s for me, but probably you too)
• What we’re here to do (figure out what makes a great podcast, and how to actually launch one)
• Why you’ll enjoy it (impossible for me to guarantee but this is the part where we’re supposed to say ‘this podcast will change your life, omg it’s gonna be the best podcast ever etc. I’ll probs skip this bit, I reckon you’ll know if it’s your vibe).

We’ll be chatting to podcasters at all stages of their podcasting journey, and as an established producer but first time podcast host, I’ll be learning in the open, alongside you, unpacking what actually makes a great podcast. Join me as we explore everything from the practical stuff like equipment and recording set ups, to the stuff you don’t know you need to know (you know?) We’ll be digging into the bigger picture stuff like mindset and those all important ‘podcast objectives’ (and how we measure them) as well as the nitty gritty production details - prepare to get geeky with me because I could talk about this stuff ALL DAY.

I’m an *award winning* (someone pass my trumpet so that I may toot it) podcast producer and founder of Decibelle Creative. I started my audio production career in radio but my passion started long before that, when little Buckers discovered story tapes (the Roald Dahl ones were my fave).

I’ve been making podcasts for other people since 2020, and I’ve been avoiding/over-thinking/freaking out about making my own podcast… since 2020. So in a nutshell, Just Make The Bloody Podcast is me quite literally slapping myself in the face with a wet fish of motivation, publicly.

Welcome along to our first ever episode! If you’ve been willing yourself to JUST MAKE THE BLOODY PODCAST for longer than you care to admit, you’ve found the right podcast to help you *actually* do it.

Hi from me, Buckers (producer of podcasts for everyone other than myself - until now!) and my long-time school pal and avid podcast listener Katie - we're new round here and we've got a lot to say (and learn!) so prepare yourself for the ultimate* podcasting podcast.

*bold of us.

This episode is Part 1 of what we’re referring to as ‘The Pilot’ (because that makes it sound like an edgy new comedy which makes us feel cool and relevant). The first thing to say about this episode is that what should have been a tidy, concise introduction to the podcast and it's hosts inevitably turned into a hefty 2 hour recording sesh (Katie genuinely lost her voice by the end).

Luckily for us though, the entire premise of Just Make The Bloody Podcast hangs its hat on starting scrappy and figuring it out later, so we decided to split it into 2 episodes, and here we are with part 1. Bish bash bosh.
