About this listen
From 1978 through 1991, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994), commonly known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, was an American serial murderer and sex offender who raped, murdered, and dismembered 17 men and boys. Many of his later killings featured necrophilia, cannibalism, and the permanent preservation of body parts, usually the entire or a portion of the skeleton.
Dahmer was ruled legally sane during his trial despite being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic condition. Dahmer was sentenced to 15 sentences of life imprisonment on February 15, 1992, after being convicted of 15 of the 16 murders he committed in Wisconsin. He was then sentenced to a 16th life sentence for another killing committed in Ohio in 1978.
Dahmer was beaten to death on November 28, 1994, by Christopher Scarver, a fellow inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution.
