Time is bending in Interval Signals #12, when electronic wizards Gebrüder Teichmann and percussion legend Robyn Schulkowsky spill insights into their collaboration. Truly a Berlin thing, they originally met at a party and started off from there, meeting shortly after to improvise together. Fast forward to today, they have developed a unique way of interweaving Schulkowsky's rhythms with the Teichmanns' abstract treatments.

Drummer and composer Will Guthrie feels pretty much at home at the intersection of all kinds of musical styles. In Interval Signals #11, we sit down with him to talk about his background and self-understanding as a drummer and percussionist as well as his recently founded ensemble Nist-Nah. The group plays their own, experimental music on traditional gamelan instruments.

Back in June, Montréal based clarinettist, composer and improviser Lori Freedman presented her quintet BeingFive at the occasion of Kontraklang’s minifestival »Montréal and beyond«. For Interval Signals #10, we sat down with her to talk about the band, how it came together and what a potential future might look like, what led her to become an improviser and much more.

We invited composer, pianist and self-proclaimed technologist Zubin Kanga in December 2021 to present a series of works from his repertoire that make extensive use of various technical extensions.
