I think flat earth theory is BS. So why would some one try to discredti it. Why not just ignore it.Why offer to pay this guys ticket to Antarctica.

For me it's simple. The establishment needs to hide a lot of evil and manipulation. So they throw money at UFO conspiracy theorists. Flat earther . 9/11...and many more.
This helps bolster the image about crazy conspiracy theorists...
What are conspiracy theorists like. They think that the earths flat. Bigfoot is real. Little green men run the world...and
JFK was killed by the state. Same as MLK. HMS Liberty was attacked by Israel..etc etc etc.

if you can put any conspiracy in the same bucket of madness it helps distract from the genuine evil ones as well.
