Beyond the 90 is a football podcast hosted by Tom Garratt, covering the clubs, stories and talking points shaping the EFL across the North West, as well as a focus on AFC Fylde in the National League.

From results, managers and players to rule changes, finances, play-offs and the decisions being made away from the pitch, the show looks beyond the scoreline to explore the wider world of the Football League.

The podcast is produced through Tune Ability, One Fylde’s inclusive media platform, where individuals with a learning disability or autism are given opportunities to create and present their own radio and podcast programmes.

Tune Ability became a national award-winning platform in 2026, winning the Technology category at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards.

Tom is blind, so the programme uses an accessible recording process developed around him. The script is read aloud for Tom to follow and repeat during recording, before the guide voice is removed in the edit. What listeners hear in the finished programme is Tom’s voice, giving him the opportunity to host the show in his own way.

Beyond the 90 brings together accessible media, local football and the stories that matter across the EFL.

    Welcome to the first episode of Beyond the 90, hosted by Tom Garratt.

    The new season is under way, but there have been some significant changes across the Football League.

    Tom looks at the expanded Championship play-off format, new rules aimed at cutting down time-wasting and the financial regulations changing how clubs can spend their money.

    There’s also a round-up of the opening EFL Cup action, including wins for Blackpool and Fleetwood, penalty drama for Preston and results from Blackburn, Bolton and Burnley.

    Then attention turns to the opening League weekend.

    Blackpool battle back for a point against Wycombe, Fleetwood make it two wins from two against Chesterfield, and AFC Fylde continue their unbeaten National League start with victory at Tamworth.

    We also check in on Bolton, Preston, Blackburn and Burnley as the new campaign begins across the North West.

    It’s the first step in a new journey following the clubs, people and stories of the Football League.
