 Good morning. Kansas. I'm Aaron Jolly. If you opened the door this morning and couldn't see your neighbor's house, you're not imagining things. Dense fog has swallowed most of Kansas overnight. We're sitting at 47 degrees with visibility down to a quarter mile in spots. Marion County stays under a Dense Fog Advisory until 11 A.M., so take it slow on the roads. In the next 24 hours. Once that fog burns off by late morning, we're in for a surprisingly mild day. Northeast and south central Kansas hit 65 degrees. Western Kansas warms even more, topping out at 69 degrees. That's about 28 degrees above normal for early March — Out west, though, that warmth comes with a catch. Hamilton. Stanton. And Morton counties are under a Fire Weather Watch this afternoon. Gusty south winds and humidity dropping to 15 percent means any spark could spread fast. Not the day to burn trash. Tonight, things get interesting. Thunderstorms develop after 8 P.M. Across eastern Kansas, peaking around midnight. Some could pack large hail and gusty winds. Look up between the storms and you'll catch a full moon. Friday brings our best shot at severe weather. A strong cold front barrels through during the afternoon. Highs climb to 73 degrees ahead of it, then temperatures crash to 40 degrees by Friday night. That's a 33-degree drop in hours. Saturday cools to the mid-50s. Then the warmth surges back. Sunday hits the upper 60s. Monday pushes toward 78 degrees. Our next storm system arrives Tuesday with more rain chances.
