To this day in popular culture and especially in areas considered "nerdy", fandom is still in many cases thought of and represented as male coded.

A certain idea of who partakes in a lot of these fandoms and who it is aimed at in the first place still seems very much prevalent.

But, in a rare moment of clarity, after so many episodes, Christian realised that, sitting opposite him, is someone who defies this notion.

It was a lovely Saturday evening. The sun was still up, the temperature just right, a nice bar with a garden literally around the corner...

So naturally we decided to stay in, order some food, down a bottle of wine and play through the first level of every (mainline) Super Mario game from 1985 all the way to the present day.

Do they still hold up? Do they make you wanna play the rest of the game? Or are they just not as good as our nostalgic, kinda tipsy brains remember them to be?
