  • Dear Evan Hansen - MALACHI (Connor Murphy)
    Jun 27 2026

With only a couple shows remaining, I give you perhaps the most controversial character in Dear Evan Hansen, Connor Murphy (played by Malachi Peters). Connor is many things, but mostly, he is severely misunderstood. No one can see past the bad boy demeanour, the black nails, the violent outbursts. But as Malachi so intelligently gathers, it's all a cry for help from the broken boy behind the mask.

Malachi is such a treat and someone I have very much enjoyed getting to know through the course of this show. Watching him become Connor inspires me to be better, as an actor and as a person.

  • Dear Evan Hansen - JAXSEN & CATE (Jared & Alana)
    Jun 23 2026

These two are inseparable so it only seemed fitting to interview them together. Just 16 and 17 years of age, Jaxsen and Cate are the youngest members of the cast, but they bring the best energy! They are youthful and vibrant, of course, but as you'll hear, they also bring a very chill dynamic. Well spoken, thoughtful, authentic. Something I was never at that age and still yearn to be now.

With just six shows left, we are in the final stretch of Dear Evan Hansen! There are tickets still available: www.kelownaactorsstudio.com.

  • Dear Evan Hansen - RANDY (Director)
    Jun 17 2026

Randy Leslie opened Kelowna Actors Studio 23 years ago. (It was either open the theatre or adopt a baby! I believe he chose right.) Randy is my boss, the Director and Choreographer of Dear Evan Hansen and he is also the one who pushed to bring it to a Kelowna stage.

This show goes far beyond selling tickets for Randy. It's about pushing the boundaries of what is talked about through art. Randy has personal reasons for selecting this show, and I love that he's getting vulnerable with me and us in this interview.

This is what it's all about. Sharing vulnerability, connecting with others, bonding through the process, and healing. I thanked Randy for trusting me with his story and I know you will too.

  • Dear Evan Hansen - OPENING NIGHT!
    Jun 10 2026

It's opening night! June 10, 2026 has been on my calendar for the better part of a year and we made it! This is a quick episode featuring an update (since it's been a minute since my last episode!) and the story of Dear Evan Hansen in under 5 minutes. It's only been hinted at in previous episodes and I figured it was time to give you the Coles Notes. I believe watching a musical when you know the story makes the experience more relaxing. Then you can sit back and take in the experience, not worrying about missing story parts along the way. So enjoy this quick episode and I hope to see you at the show in the coming weeks!

  • Dear Evan Hansen - ETHAN (Evan Hansen)
    May 20 2026

We are three weeks from opening night! I'll provide a brief update of the rehearsal process and quickly get into my interview with Ethan Landygo.

Ethan is our Evan! Born and raised Okanagan Valley boy, playing the role of his life. I loved learning his background, what he brings to the role and how he prepares for interactions with other cast members. He is working his butt off! His falsetto singing is STUNNING and I'm so lucky I get to share a stage with him.

  • Dear Evan Hansen - SKYLAR (Zoe Murphy)
    May 12 2026

Rehearsals for Dear Evan Hansen at the Kelowna Actors Studio are officially underway! I'll give you a bit of an update, then dive into our first interview.

Skylar Naiman plays Zoe Murphy in the show, daughter to Cynthia (my character) and brother to the infamous Connor Murphy. Zoe represents Sky's first time playing a softer, more moody character, and she can't wait to dive in! After taking some time away from the stage as she navigated some challenges of her own during her later high school years, Sky is back and wearing her lived experience as a badge of honour.

Let's get to know Sky as she prepares to bring Zoe Murphy to stage in Kelowna's exclusive presentation of Dear Evan Hansen, June 10-28, 2026.

  • Dear Evan Hansen - MY STORY pt. 2
    Apr 20 2026

The second part of my story begins with the birth of my first child, a time that forced a great reset, or maybe a second iteration, of Lindsay-Anne as I knew her. I experienced the downside of hypervigilance and anxiety, two traits that had fueled me for most of my life.

Depression was deep and dark and frightening. It's like nothing I've ever experienced, nor hope to again. The mind is so very powerful and when those processes we've put in place over time to keep us balanced and regulated are no longer there, the mind malfunctions. And the result is crushing; almost unbearable.

But this is yet another time that led to change and a new outlook; a new way. The struggle of becoming a mother shocked me because I wasn't prepared. Why wasn't I prepared? Thankfully I learned an important lesson about vulnerability, which I carry with me to this day.

This episode concludes the solo, single talking head part of this series and I'm excited to get into the real behind the scenes work on Dear Evan Hansen! Who should I have on the show first?

  • Dear Evan Hansen - MY STORY pt. 1
    Apr 20 2026

How did we get here? Who am I? Why am I doing this anyway? This is part one of my story. Where and how I grew up, and when I first caught "the bug." My church years and how I believe being in a worship band shaped my voice. And then there was that time on Popstars ... anyone remember that show?!

Growing up looks different for everyone. And here's a little bit about how it was for me, from my youth and adolescent years in Victoria, to finding love and making the move to Kelowna (a smaller, but up and coming city with a blossoming arts scene).

I believe each part shaped who I am and prepared me for what's next: playing the role of Cynthia Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen this spring.
