• AntiCholinesterases for Adept Anaesthetists
    Apr 18 2026

Anti-Cholinesterases, they find widespread use in clinical medicine.

Their role in reversal of neuromuscular blockade is certainly dwindling given sugammadexes rise to post patent [can actually afford to use it] supremacy.

But if you are using atracurium, then go nuts!

  • Cisatracurium + other drugs that impair neuromuscular function
    Feb 20 2026

Cisatracurium is one of the ten isomers found in an ampoule of Atracurium! It has been selected out as a useful, potent, predictably degrading drug with a very stable side effect profile!

Althought, it might be that, whilst Cisatracurium probably sounded like a great idea at the time... it was perhaps batting for a marketing USP that wasn't quite there..

If we were being particularly clever we could call it the R-cis-R'-cis isomer of Atracurium besilate, it is 3 times as potent as the Atracurium mix in your anaesthetic room fridge
