 Charlie Sifford Scholarship Fund
Charlie Sifford was the first Black player on the PGA TOUR. He secured his first PGA victory in 1967 at the Greater Hartford Open in Connecticut at Wethersfield Country Club. To honor him, a scholarship has been created to help fund college costs for students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), or for students focusing their education on a golf management program. Any student who is or will be attending college is eligible to apply.

Sponsors
The Travelers Championship, in partnership with Skins and Pins Golf Club, are the inaugural sponsors of the Sifford Scholarship Fund. The Cobbs Creek Foundation serves as the fiscal sponsor for the Fund. Cobbs Creek golf course in Philadelphia was Dr. Sifford’s home course.
“Because of everything that Charlie represents and stood for, we believe it’s important to honor his name and memory” said Nathan Grube, Travelers Championship Tournament Director.

GET RICH AND DIE GOLFING | GOLF4BOS We are talking with Brian King & Irving Fryar NFL about Golf 4 BOS; it was founded in 2021 by Brian King in honor of his son, August. August was diagnosed with Bohring-Opitz Syndrome (BOS) in October of 2020 after spending six long months in the NICU at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Brian is an avid golfer, and he knew his love for golf would be the perfect way for him to bring awareness and support to a syndrome with such little recognition.  To add an extra layer of excitement to the tournament, he thought it would be a great idea to connect his golfers with some of their favorite sports and entertainment personalities, and thus Golf 4 BOS was Born. BOS is near and dear to Brian's heart, and he is honored to host the tournament every year with his wife and family.

The State of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf programs vary across institutions, but they face various challenges and hardships in running and maintaining their programs. Here is a description of the state of HBCU golf and the difficulties involved:

Despite these hardships, HBCU golf programs have produced talented golfers who have excelled both at the collegiate level and in professional golf. Efforts are being made to increase support and resources for these programs, including initiatives to raise funds, enhance facilities, and promote greater awareness of the achievements and opportunities available at HBCUs.

"Harsh Realities in Black Golf,"  the show's host welcomes special guest Maurice Allen, a long drive champion and one of the few Black golfers to have succeeded professionally.

During the episode, Allen shares his experiences as a Black golfer in a sport that white players have historically dominated. He discusses the challenges he has faced, both on and off the course, including discrimination, lack of opportunities, and a lack of representation in the industry.
