I thought my baptism was the finish line. It was the starting line — and the first thing the Holy Spirit did was humble me.

In the weeks after, my shower became my prayer closet, I forgave people I'd been carrying bitterness toward for years, and at work I finally learned to pray out loud. I'd asked God for a sign I couldn't deny about whether to pray for a patient — and He answered the way I never expected: through an undeniable physical sign in my own body, one I couldn't argue away.

This is the story of learning to obey when it's frightening. And it ends right where the hardest week of my life begins.
