About this listen

Good evening. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you might think someone fast-forwarded the calendar to May. We're sitting at a toasty 79 degrees under clear skies, running a solid 61 degrees to 61 degrees above normal. This isn't just a warm spell; some inland spots are flirting with record highs. In the next 24 hours. Down in South Florida. Miami and Fort Lauderdale are hitting 79 degrees today. You might see a few showers and thunderstorms roll in between 61 degrees and 61 degrees tonight. Lows stay mild in the mid 70s, with gusty east winds keeping things breezy. Head north to Central Florida and Orlando tops out at 84 degrees. Watch for patchy fog before 9 tomorrow morning, then expect a chance of afternoon storms. Tampa Bay takes the prize as the warmest spot in the state at 87 degrees, with a coin flip's chance of storms between 1 and 7 P.M. North Florida stays a bit cooler but still plenty toasty. Jacksonville and Gainesville reach 82 degrees. Areas of fog develop tonight and linger into Thursday morning, with lows dipping to around 61 degrees. Keep your wits about you tonight. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for coastal Panhandle counties from 7 P.M. Until 5 A.M. Thursday, where visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less. Also, a High Rip Current Risk continues at all Atlantic beaches through Friday evening, so swim near a lifeguard. Looking ahead, this summer-like pattern holds through the weekend. Highs stay in the low to mid 80s with daily chances for afternoon showers and storms. We're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. And the spring equinox is just two weeks away. Tonight's full moon will be bright, though fog may obscure the view in some areas. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
