About this listen

Good morning. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly. That 77 degrees on your thermometer right now? it's just the opening act. Strong high pressure parked off New England is wedging cool, moist Atlantic air down the coast. That sets up a classic Florida split today. Coastal areas deal with fog while inland spots surge toward the 80s. In the next 24 hours. North Florida, you're getting the brunt of it. Northeast winds gusting to 24 miles an hour will make that 72-degree high feel brisk. But the real story comes tonight. Widespread dense fog rolls in along the I-Ninety-Five corridor. If you're driving near Jacksonville or Fernandina Beach after sunset, visibility could drop fast. Central Florida wakes up to patchy fog tomorrow morning. Today you hit 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies. You might see a passing shower after 2 P.M., but most of you stay dry. Tampa Bay, you've got the warmest spot in the state. High of 84 degrees today. Mostly sunny and pleasant with light east winds. Down in South Florida, expect 78 degrees with a slight chance of coastal showers between 2 and 5 P.M. East winds gusting to 21 miles an hour will make it breezy. A high rip current risk continues at all Atlantic beaches through Wednesday evening. If you're heading to the water, swim near a lifeguard. Tonight brings a full moon. Look up after sunset and you'll see it shining through partly cloudy skies. Here's the week ahead. That warming trend continues. By Thursday and Friday, inland areas could flirt with record highs in the mid to upper 80s. Shower chances tick up Thursday through Saturday as moisture increases. But the pattern stays pleasant overall. Just keep an eye on those rip currents if you're beach-bound. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
