  • Find Tell Share Episode 37 Dark Holy Ground Special
    Mar 8 2024
“Find Tell Share” is a podcast co-hosted in Sheffield by Chris Sissons, Market Together and Jemma Rosenthal, Creative Hearts. It’s the storyteller’s podcast, featuring everything storytelling, especially if you use stories to promote your business or charity (and you should!). We produce an edition once a month with a guest, watch out for the next! This is a special edition of Find Tell Share. The theme is still storytelling but this time it is not specifically business related. The storyteller is Chris Sissons and the programme us facilitated by Jemma Rosenthal. March 2024’s Theme Chris writes: I’ve wanted to record an experience I had during the 1980s in County Cleveland for some time. I was unable to do this for several years because I lost the paperwork. However, last summer in a fit of de-cluttering, I found the paperwork! It could be argued that this is not my story to tell. That’s true but the impact this has had on my approach to Christian spirituality has been profound. So, although this is someone else’s story it is also mine. Credit where credit is due, the Dark Holy Ground course was devised by three members of RESPOND! Church’s Response to Cleveland’s Industrial Crisis. They were Keith Lindsey, Robert Gallagher and Peter Keeling. They may have published more about Dark Holy Ground over the years and so if anything is published and still available I would like to hear about it and spread the word. Dark Holy Ground was a course for church people and long-term unemployed people. I don’t know any more names of those who took part but this is also my version of their story and so they should be acknowledged. The Podcast tells the story of the course and some of its content. If anything is unclear, please leave a comment and I’ll do my best to clarify. Finally, I must thank Jemma Rosenthal who kindly consented to listen to my account whilst wrestling with a recalcitrant microphone stand! I’m grateful for her contribution to this recording and profoundly grateful for her co-hosting for these Podcasts over the last few years. Chris Sissons loves stories and these days strides the streets of Sheffield on the lookout for new stories. He was a Community Development Worker for 30 years and consequently is sceptical about almost everything. I’m a local marketing coach, using stories to open up business development in surprising ways. I underline the distinction between real and paid work. Many people are unhappy because they cannot find time for their real work – as we unravel the lockdown, we’re all challenged to step up and offer the world our own unique insights. They won’t always work but how else do we find the ones that do? Find out more about Market Together here. My contact details are on the site. Find past Podcast episodes on the site.
