    Sophie and Diana discuss what led her and her co-founder, Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan to found Aurora 50, a social business developing sustainable strategies to increase gender equity in boards of directors, but also current trends, and tips to develop a board career. 2020 saw a noticeable slowdown in the rate of increase for female representation on boards, with a gain of only 0.6 percentage points If the trend over the past four years continues it may take until 2029 for women to comprise 30% of corporate boards, and until 2045 to reach 50% (source: Women on Boards report progress by MSCI) In the UAE, the regulator - Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA), has stipulated that women must represent 20% of directors on listed company boards. However, women currently hold only 3.5% of these board seats.
