May is the Mental Health awareness month , we had to share another inspiring story and that story is that of Lisa Cox, a TEDx speaker, author, and international thought leader who has faced unimaginable challenges. Having died twice and endured extensive medical complications, Lisa shares her incredible story of resilience and transformation.
At just 24 years old, Lisa's life took a drastic turn when she suffered a brain hemorrhage that left her in a coma for three weeks and on life support for two months. With multiple amputations and a host of invisible disabilities, Lisa has spent nearly 20 years learning to navigate her new normal. Despite the physical and emotional hurdles, she maintains a positive outlook, attributing her strength to gratitude and a desire to change the narrative surrounding disability.
Join us as Lisa unpacks her experiences in the healthcare system, the impact of societal stereotypes, and her mission to advocate for better representation of people with disabilities in media and beyond. She emphasizes the importance of understanding that every person's experience is unique and that we must challenge the narrow stereotypes that often define the disabled community.
Lisa also discusses her personal life, including her marriage and how she and her husband navigate their relationship while ensuring that their dynamic remains balanced and supportive. She offers invaluable advice for those facing similar challenges, encouraging them to embrace their strength and celebrate small victories along the way.
Don't miss this powerful conversation about resilience, advocacy, and the importance of living life on your own terms.
