Invisible cities podcast Episode 2: Simon Gripenberg
In this week's episode, we welcome visual artist Simon Gripenberg whose work deals with the vital topics of climate change, biodiversity and its loss
Through a playful and sensitive approach, Gripenberg combines the art and technology to explore themes around science, nature and biomimicry. Working primarily with recycled materials his projects include small and large scale exhibitions as well permanent public sculptures.
Talking from the beautiful location of Tankar island we discuss Simons thoughts on collaboration, sustainability and climate justice. We also explore how his background in engineering has informed his material approach and an enquiry of simple solutions to complex problems.
Gripenberg (born 1973) is a mixed media artist based in Jakobstad, Finland, from where he works across the Nordic region.
