About this listen

Transgender people have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from the sex that they were assigned at birth. Some transgender people who desire medical assistance to transition from one sex to another identify as transsexual.

The host share their thoughts with regards to transgender athletes competing in competitive sports and if they do in fact have a competitive edge.

From a biological perspective you are either born as a male or a female and when you are able to comprehend what is right for you then a choice can be made to then identify as the opposite sex.

It was back in 2004 that the International Olympic Committee recommended that individuals undergoing sex reassignment after puberty could compete, but only under certain conditions;

  • Surgical changes must have been completed, including external genitalia changes and removal of gonads.
  • Legal recognition of their assigned sex must have been conferred by appropriate official authorities.
  • Hormone therapy for the assigned sex must have been given for long enough (2 years) to minimise any gender-related advantages in sport competitions, a period that must be at least two years after gonadectomy.

The host dispute this theory saying that during puberty a male would develop denser bones and muscle mass along with larger heart and lungs giving the competitive edge which despite the above conditions would still give an unfair advantage.

Fallon Fox (born Boyd Burton) is now a retired transgender MMA fighter who beat on of her female opponents Tamika Brents so severely that she suffered a broken skull, this is evidence that there is an unfair advantage.

Clearly there is a lot more that needs to be considered around competitive sports but with the evolution of science more is being done to support those that are uncomfortable in their bodies and wish to express themselves as transgender.

The host welcome your thoughts in what we know is a sensitive topic, in no way are we transphobic or have anything against the LGBTQ+ community so get involved and let us know your thoughts too.

Episode 20 we welcome our 2nd special guest, founder of NUDDA M.A.X.Training, Antonio Faedda! THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED!!
