The person who wrote it — I'm calling them R — asked me not to share any details that could trace back to them. They said they didn't want them to know they'd talked. I asked who they meant. R never replied. So tonight, I'll just tell you what they wrote. A rural house. A silent sky. A dog that looked up before they did. And a field of corn — forty feet across — pressed perfectly flat by something that was there and then wasn't. Some stories don't have endings. This one just stops.
