  • Summary

  • Our confidence in our ability to multitask is largely misplaced. Our brain is really only capable of efficiently doing one thing at a time. Derren explores the difference between our ability to 'look' and 'see', hearing how being responsible for a fatal road accident taught one motorist about the dangers of 'neurological hijacking'.

The myth of multitasking reviewed by Tevin Gongo

I really like Derren, I could not resist the opportunity to learn from this human behaviouer's expert. I was expecting something more in depth but as a 30-minute episode, this is really well done.

This episode actually doesn't really require more information. It explains really clearly why we should be aware of our ability to multitask.

Inaccurate stories

The story is full of inaccuracies. For example; During the story a fact given; is that you are blind for up to 4 hours a day.

Actually excluding sleep when technically you are blind for the duration of it, most people are blind for up to 40 mins due to saccadic masking and not 4 hours.

Another statement was you can only concentrate for 20 minutes this is debatable as everyone has different concentration levels.

I wonder what other facts we are getting brainwashed with are inaccurate.

Amazing

So useful for my work providing psychoeducational therapy to women who have experienced trauma. Links to the research studies would be KaMaZiNg if at all possible and thanks for making this accessible to all by being free. I know my clients will find it incredibly helpful, and so do I.
