• Decisions Can Be Messy
    Jan 16 2026
Ever feel like you're talking into the wind, trying hard to figure out what actually matters? I've been all over the place lately, experimenting with new formats and longer episodes. Truth is, I was feeling disconnected. You guys got quiet, and I couldn't tell if I was helping anymore. Then I dug into 400 comments from you. What I discovered changed everything about how I think about this show and what you actually need from it. Sometimes the answer isn't creating something new. It's understanding what's been working all along. Featured Story I sat down and read through every single comment you sent me when I asked for feedback. Almost 400 of you took time to respond. That's when I saw it. Comment after comment mentioning something I never expected. You're archiving episodes. Keeping journals of what resonates. Going back to specific shows when you need them most. One listener from Brazil had thousands of episodes saved, ready when he needed a boost. It was humbling and eye-opening. I'd been so focused on creating something new that I missed what was right in front of me. You weren't looking for longer episodes or different formats. You needed what's always been here, short daily boosts you can return to whenever life gets messy. Important Points When feedback gets really quiet, dig deeper into what people are actually showing you, not just what they're saying. Sometimes you're solving problems that don't actually exist while missing what's working right in front of you. Your audience won't always tell you what they need, so look for patterns in how they're actually using what you give. Memorable Quotes "If something's not working, don't just take it. Shake the hell out of it till you figure out what's going on." "People won't tell you they want a Model T. They'll just say they want a faster horse. That's what everybody does." "I realized you're on millions of devices right now, sitting there ready to pull me out whenever you need it most." Scott's Three-Step Approach Notice when something feels off, even if you can't name it yet. Trust that feeling and don't try to ignore it. Put ideas out there and explore possibilities, then carefully read all the feedback looking for hidden patterns. Find the thread everyone's actually showing you, then make the decision to double down on what's really working. • Hard Things Make You Grow
    Jan 15 2026
I'm the most optimistic pessimistic guy you'll ever meet. Got it from my mom. She'd answer the phone with "What do you want?" then offer me money. I see the world exactly as it is. But I don't let it punch me in the face. Well, sometimes it does. Then I turn face first into it. Had a coaching call today that got uncomfortable. The kind you don't want but desperately need. We talked about identity shifts and climbing mountains. About writing your legacy letter today instead of waiting. Because whatever you do today is your legacy. Featured Story Had an inner circle coaching call this morning. My buddy Croy texted me afterward: "You are brave, man." We had a conversation that was really deep and really uncomfortable. The kind you don't want to have but need to. You know what you need to do. You know what mountain you need to climb. But you can't get yourself to do it. Is it pride? Ego? I don't know. My job isn't to hurt people. It's to help them figure themselves out. We're going for an identity shift. And man, I felt like I was climbing a mountain ready to get pushed off the ledge. I said no. I'm standing here. Hard things make you grow. Important Points • If your life isn't going the way you want, you're not in alignment - doing things you like, the way you like them. • Identity shift is the real work - you can talk all day, but you must shift deep inside your soul to become it. • Whatever you do or don't do today is writing your legacy - someone's watching and they've already got you figured out. Memorable Quotes • "Every great lesson I've ever learned in my life has been because of a hard thing just before it, mountain climbing." • "You're writing your legacy today. Whatever you do or don't do, you are writing your legacy right this very second." • "Stand up, take a step, repeat. It doesn't matter what gets in your way. Just get out of bed and do it again tomorrow." Scott's Three-Step Approach • Get yourself in alignment first - doing the things you like, the way you like to do them, making your heart sing daily. • Commit to the identity shift deep in your soul - talking means nothing until you actually become that new person. • Stand up, take a step toward it, and repeat tomorrow - your legacy is being written by what you do today, not someday. • You Have to Really Want It
    Jan 14 2026
Ever notice how the gym fills up in January? How everyone's pumped with fresh motivation? I walked in ready to crush my workout, and some guy was on my machine. My machine. I had my towel ready and everything. We all get fired up with goals and dreams. We get clarity, make plans, feel committed. Then we stumble. We pause. We stop. Twenty years ago, a guy at a convention asked me one question that changed everything: "How bad do you want it?" After coaching thousands of hours, I've learned that's the only question that matters. You can have all the tricks, all the discipline, all the knowledge in the world. But if you don't want it badly enough, nothing else matters. Featured Story I had a dream of becoming a Hollywood director. I wanted to write screenplays and make movies. So I flew to Orlando for a film convention. Paid my $97. Walked into a breakout session on screenplay writing, ready to learn the secret that would make me Hollywood famous. The instructor got on stage and said, "I'm going to teach you everything you need to know." I had my notebook out. This was it. Then he said, "How bad do you want it? Because I can tell you right now that most people in this room don't want it nearly badly enough to make their dreams come true." I didn't believe him. I paid my money. I wanted it bad. But he was right. And that question has followed me through twenty-something thousand coaching hours. Every single time, clients get clarity, get aligned, get pumped up, and then they don't move. They can't get off the starting line. Important Points Wanting something isn't enough. You have to want it so badly that nothing can stop you from actually getting it. Real action requires two things: something that fires you up, and wanting it badly enough to actually do it. The biggest goals and smallest dreams work the same way. Peace matters as much as empires if you want it badly. Memorable Quotes "When you want it badly enough that you'll do anything to get it, you're going to get it. Nothing can stop you." "I wait until I get fired up. If I'm not fired up, I'm not going to do it. You know why? I ain't going to make it." "Life is more important than crossing Ts and dotting Is. You lost me at hello if you're correcting my grammar." Scott's Three-Step Approach First, find something that fires you up. Without inspiration, you won't move forward or you'll quit along the way. Second, wait until you want it badly enough. If it's not burning in you, don't start because you won't finish. Third, go for it no matter what. Be willing to look everyone who doubts you in the eye and keep moving anyway. • Don't Break the Chain
    Jan 13 2026
My client Ralph said something that threw me off. He thinks I don't care what anybody thinks about me. That couldn't be further from the truth. I care deeply. Maybe too much sometimes. But I also know that if I keep showing up and doing my thing, the rest takes care of itself. It's not about ignoring feedback. It's about staying consistent with who you are. And that reminded me of a backstage conversation I had with Jerry Seinfeld back in 1986 that changed how I approach everything. His secret? Never break the chain. Featured Story Back in 1986, I got a call from an event promoter. Could I introduce Jerry Seinfeld and do a warmup set? Free dinner, bar tab, and hangout time with Jerry? Obviously yes. The show hadn't hit yet. Jerry was still touring, living on the road, wearing himself out. We had a great conversation backstage. I asked how he manages to keep going. His answer was simple. "I write every day. I put a big red X on the calendar. Eventually there's a chain of X's. My goal is never to break the chain." Years later, I've done 14,000 podcasts using that exact principle. Consistency wins. Important Points • Consistency beats talent when talent doesn't show up - just keep doing it daily and the average people fade away. • You don't need permission or approval to get good at what you do - just show up and put in the repetitions daily. • Your only competition is yesterday's version of yourself - focus there and opportunities will find you naturally. Memorable Quotes • "If you want to be good at anything, you're going to have to do it a lot, truly a ridiculous amount of repetitions." • "Get good at what you do and just keep doing it every single day. You can truly do anything with that approach." • "Average people will fade away. Your chance will come if you show up consistently every day and never break the chain." Scott's Three-Step Approach • Decide what consistency looks like for your goal - three days a week, daily, whatever works, then commit to it. • Show up and do it every single day regardless of how you feel - put the X on the calendar no matter what happens. • Keep the chain going until the compound effect kicks in and average people naturally fade from your competition. • Do What Makes Your Heart Sing
    Jan 12 2026
Ever get advice that takes years to fully understand? My late wife Cheryl told me something on her deathbed that's finally clicking after 19 years. "Always do what makes your heart sing." I thought I got it. Ran with it. Even did keynotes about it. But I missed the real meaning. It's not about chasing passion or making money. It's about that moment when your heart relaxes and gets excited at the same time. When you feel fully yourself. That feeling is your calling. And when you embrace it, you create permission for others to do the same. Featured Story Nineteen years ago, my first wife Cheryl was facing her terminal diagnosis. The same day I started the commercial version of this podcast. A hundred days later, she was gone. But before she passed, she grabbed my hand and asked if she could give me some advice. Of course I said yes. "Always do what makes your heart sing." I nodded. I thought I understood. But honestly, it took me two decades to really get what she meant. It's not about doing whatever you want. It's about embracing your God-given uniqueness and running with it. When you perform to your talents, even when people don't understand, your heart knows. And that authentic expression creates permission for everyone around you. Important Points • Your heart already knows what makes it sing - you just need to listen for that relaxed excitement feeling daily. • Doing what makes your heart sing isn't selfish - it creates ripple effects that give others permission to do the same. • It's not narcissism - it's embracing your God-given talents and expressing them authentically without apology. Memorable Quotes • "Do what makes your heart sing - embrace your uniqueness and just run with it, unapologetically and courageously." • "When your heart relaxes and gets excited at the exact same time, you've finally found what you're meant to do." • "Perform to your talents and watch people naturally line up wanting what you have - that's your genuine calling." Scott's Three-Step Approach • Find that moment when your heart relaxes and gets excited simultaneously - that's your unmistakable signal here. • Embrace what truly lights you up, even when others don't understand it - their approval was never required anyway. • Keep showing up authentically in that space and watch the ripple effect create permission for everyone around you. • What Drives Any Goal
    Jan 9 2026
You've got clarity. You know what you want. But do you actually understand what's driving the whole thing? Most people focus on goal-setting and never dig into the psychology underneath. Today I'm breaking down five principles that drive every outcome you're chasing. This is mastermind level thinking that applies everywhere. Your business. Your employees. Your kids. Your personal goals. Once you understand these fundamentals, your goals stop being struggles and start becoming systems that actually work. Fair warning: you might need to listen to this one a few times. Featured Story I've got a friend who's about to run across Death Valley. We're talking 140 miles through Badwater in 130-degree heat with 25,000 feet of vertical climb. Yesterday I asked him what his outcome was. He said he needs to climb the mountain because that's part of the route. I stopped him right there. That's not your outcome. Your outcome is to break the world record. If you climb the mountain, great. But you might get tired on the other side and stop. The mountain is a step. Breaking the record is the outcome. That distinction changes everything about how you approach what you're doing. Important Points Most people confuse their actionable steps with their actual outcome, which guarantees confusion and missed goals. The true value isn't the goal itself but what achieving it creates in your life, business, or legacy right now. Everything you build should scale without breaking your peaceful base or creating more work than it's actually worth. Memorable Quotes "Life should not be as hard as it is. I've never believed it, never liked it, so I decided to hack my way better." "Know your outcome, not a vague promise to yourself. Vague outcomes guarantee you'll stop when things get tough." "Give it a clear name so you can live it, tell people about it, and magically transport yourself right into the game." Scott's Three-Step Approach Know your specific outcome and chunk your actionable steps into an operational system you can actually follow. Understand the true value beyond the surface goal because that's what keeps you moving forward when it gets hard. Make it scalable with a clear name so it builds on itself without breaking what's already working in your life. Chapters 0:11 - What actually drives your goals (mastermind thinking) 1:28 - The five principles behind every successful outcome 2:28 - Know your outcome (not vague promises to yourself) 3:23 - Operational systems beat scattered action every time 4:24 - Making it scalable without breaking your peaceful base 5:43 - Why a clear name changes everything about execution Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Main Website: https://motivationtomove.com YouTube: https://youtube.com/dailyboostpodcast Instagram: https://instagram.com/heyscottsmith Facebook Page: https://facebook.com/motivationtomove Facebook Group: https://dailyboostpodcast.com/facebook Learn more about your ad choices. • Here's What Stops Everybody
    Jan 8 2026
You know what you want. You've got the vision. But something keeps stopping you from actually getting there. It's not lack of motivation. It's not that you aren't smart enough or capable. It's three specific psychological barriers that trip up everyone I work with. Today I'm breaking down what's really holding you back and why understanding these three things will finally get you unstuck. This is about the psychology of why we stay where we are even when we know exactly where we want to go. Featured Story After 19 years of running the same theme song, I changed it seven weeks ago. And now I'm second-guessing myself. I need your help deciding if the new one works or if I should go back to the old. Send me an email at scottatdailyboostpodcast.com or hit me up on Instagram at heyscottsmith. I'll write you back, I promise. And yeah, I see the irony. An episode about clarity, and I can't even decide on my own theme song. But that's exactly the point. Sometimes you need outside perspective to see what's right in front of you. Important Points Without specific clarity on what you want, there's a 99% chance you won't even start moving forward at all. Your current identity keeps you stuck right where you are right now, even when you know what needs to change next. Implementation isn't just action, it's integrating your new mindset into your current life and building momentum. Memorable Quotes "If you don't know what you want with specific clarity, you're going to get something else instead of what you need." "You have to become the person you're going to be in the future, not the one you are today, before you ever get there." "You don't need another book or seminar. You already know enough. What you need to do now is actually implement it." Scott's Three-Step Approach Get specific clarity on exactly what you want, not vague ideas or someday dreams, but real measurable direction forward. Shift your identity to become the person who already has what you want before you actually have it in real life right now. Start implementing by integrating this new mindset into your current life and walking across your bridge to where you want to be. Chapters 0:08 - The trampoline of psychology (and what stops everyone) 1:17 - Why lifestyle business shifts are so damn hard 2:05 - Clarity isn't optional (and why we ignore it anyway) 2:56 - Your identity is keeping you exactly where you are 4:07 - Implementation as integration (not just action) 5:28 - Walking your bridge to where you decided to go Learn more about your ad choices. • Life and Business Balance Formula
    Jan 7 2026
Trying to separate your work from your life? That might be the problem. For business owners and ambitious professionals, the old model of balance doesn't work anymore. The math doesn't lie, and neither does your exhaustion from trying to split yourself in two. What if you could focus on what matters most and let everything else fall into place? I'm sharing the mathematical formula that proves you don't need more hours in the day. You need better focus on the right hours. The 64-4 rule will change how you think about your time forever. Featured Story I walked into the gym this morning and nearly turned around. For three weeks over the holidays, it was me and maybe three other people. Peaceful. Easy. Today? Looked like 3,000 people showed up. The New Year's crowd is back. But instead of getting annoyed, I realized something. This is exactly what happens when people try to force balance into their lives. They show up hard for three weeks, burn out, and disappear. They're trying to separate their fitness from their life instead of making it part of how they live. That's when it hit me. The same thing happens with work and life balance. We're asking the wrong question. Important Points If you're a business owner, there is no separation between life and business. That's not a problem. That's freedom. The 80-20 rule proves that 80% of your results come from just 20% of your actions. Now do the math on that again. When you focus just 4-20% of your day on what matters most to you, the other 64-80% takes care of itself. Math. Memorable Quotes "Life is business. Business is life. That's called freedom, and it's exactly what you signed up for when you started." "If you could do more of what you love to do, life would be better. If you did more of what you hate, it wouldn't." "Eighty percent of your day is dictated by the smallest part of your focus. Use that to your advantage, not against it." Scott's Three-Step Approach Identify your passion zones. List the things you actually want to do more of. Money, relationships, fitness, whatever. Focus just 4-20% of your day on those passion zones. That's the smallest investment for the biggest return possible. Let the rest of your day take care of itself. When you nail the important stuff, everything else falls into place.
