Strap on your floaties and kiss your beach vacation goodbye — this episode we’re plunging into three fin-tastic oceanic nightmares that’ll make you never want to swim again! We’re sinking our teeth into Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (the shark that launched a thousand nightmares), the gloriously unhinged killer whale revenge flick Orca, and the batshit stormy psychological chiller Sea of Madness.

From a great white with a personal grudge against Amity Island to a whale that makes Moby Dick look like a therapy patient, and whatever fresh aquatic insanity Sea of Madness throws at us, we’re dissecting the blood-soaked 'nature strikes back' trope, legendary scores, and why these movies still have us side-eyeing the ocean like it owes us money.

Warning: may cause sudden outbursts of 'We’re gonna need a bigger boat' and an irrational fear of rubber sharks. Grab a drink (preferably not seawater) and join us — just don’t blame us when you can’t sleep with the lights off.

Hey everyone, it’s your old pal here on Dad Bod of Horror. This week I’m sitting in my chair with a soda and talking through three horror flicks that stuck with me.

We kick things off with Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980) — that slow-burn masterpiece where Jack Nicholson loses his mind in the Overlook Hotel. Then we roll into Pumpkinhead (1988), a gritty ’80s creature revenge story that’s got that raw backwoods feel. And finally, I dig into the nasty little indie slasher Teacher Shortage (2020), which takes all the stress of being a teacher and turns it into straight-up bloody chaos.

If you’ve seen any of these or just want to hear an old man rant about classic scares and modern bloodbaths, grab your headphones and join me.

Tune in, folks. And don’t forget to lock the doors… especially if you’re a substitute teach

Grab your corsage and your survival gear. This week, we are diving into four retro horror films where high school is a literal death trap. We break down the slashers, the satire, and the supernatural chaos that ruled the prom nights and hallways of yesteryear.

    What we are covering:

    • Prom Night (1980): Jamie Lee Curtis dances while a masked killer seeks ultimate revenge.
    • Student Bodies (1981): A hilarious, early parody lampooning classic slasher film tropes.
    • Dance of the Dead (1988): Punk rock rebels fight bloodthirsty zombies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
    • Ghoul School (1990): Two metalhead teens accidentally unleash a toxic monster outbreak at school.
