Scarlett was featured as one of the Top 100 women of the future. She’s an FIU and UF graduate – cofounder of BitBasel. She’s spearheaded numerous initiatives, has a hand in space tech, and is an SDG-14 UN Ambassador. Scarlett has helped to teach multiple artists and creators how to use emerging technologies in the NFT space. Scarlett talks about how art and blockchain can generate impact. She explains Regenerative defi – how you create impact that empowers artists with creating different initiatives. She explains SDGs - Sustainable Development goals. Refi – a way to impact climate change, gender equality, and the like to measure initiatives such as carbon clean-up. Regenerative is a means to identify where energy comes from –specifically renewable energy. Scarlett explains BitBasel and what they do. She defines artificial intelligence (AI) and the algorithms it uses through machine learning (ML) – and how it is often misunderstood, as well as how it gets applied to blockchain and the work that goes into creating with it. They talk about getting into tech and organizations focused on technology that helped them move to this new evolution of the internet. Nova talks about having one foot in web2 and the other in web3. Yet over time, Nova’s found herself becoming more and more part of the metaverse and web3 movement. Transitioning from Web3 to Web3 This week’s guest is Catherine Hinderman. She joins Kamilah and Nova from India (a 10.5-hour time difference). Catherine is originally from Sweden, educated in the US, and is working on a new luxury brand in India, where she is CEO and co-founder of Gaia-Amore. Catherine was in a tech accelerator when she saw how gaming was involved in the tech – but should be similarly available to artisans. Gaia-Amore is focused on creating a hybrid between physical luxury and digital luxury. They also provide a means for artisans with less education - but a tremendous amount of culture and skill - to reach a new and larger audience and expand their exposure, too. Catherine had to wrap her head around NFTs when she first encountered them – but then she understood their benefit as a creative product that holds value. When asked how the metaverse will impact eCommerce, Catherine says this is only the beginning. Brands have to innovate to compete, and Gen Z has been digitized more or less all their lives – so they’re likely to drive this. How do you get customers into Web3 and all that’s there? Catherine shares multiple resources for learning more – starting with LinkedIn. Nova, Catherine, and Kamilah talk about how web3 and the metaverse are not scary. People like Nova, Catherine, and Kamilah stand between these two worlds and can help people transition between them. Simon first got into Crypto/blockchain when he moved to Berlin. He was thinking about connecting blockchain and fashion. He also wanted to find out how to help limit waste and work with the supply chain Nova and Kamilah also talk about the connections between marketing and community building. Simon talks about Maison DAO and creating a new home for brands in Web3 and the metaverse. “Fashion doesn’t exist in a vacuum.” At the same time, it is always connected to other art. He goes on to talk about how Web3 opens the way for better global communication and “hybrid” events online and in-person (IRL). There are technical limitations to hybrid events, but it’s improving, and many different people are working to improve on them. She’s co-founder and chief Metaverse architect at Spaces DAO. NFT co-creator. Fatemeh tells her crypto story. Her first exposure was by a teacher in 2013. In 2017, Fatemeh got into crypto investing. With the pandemic, she entered the Metaverse as a creative. She discusses how building the virtual world differs from building a physical structure – such as removing the engineering restrictions - and re-touches on the possibilities without physical limitations. Spaces DAO is a collective of artists, architects, and others working to bring design aesthetics to the metaverse. They help with the creation of NFTs as deployable 3D elements. Members of the DAO are creators working together to release various creations. Fatemeh talks about building in both Web2 and Web3. She shares thoughts on getting into the various platforms of the Metaverse and becoming familiar with what is there to see how to build and improve on what’s being created.
