On 15th July 2025 The Law Commission published a consultation paper proposing that chancel repair liability should only affect buyers of registered land if the liability is registered on the property's title.

Commonhold came into existence in September 2024 never took off and currently there are less than 200 commonhold units in England and Wales. The Government says that Commonhold will replace leasehold in relation to flats.
