Christians, churches, and Christian institutions are leaving basic doctrines. This time of departing from the faith is a characteristic of our time. As God is winding down the church age apostasy is increasing. Inspiration and preservation of the Bible, the deity of Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Christ and the second coming of Christ are Bible doctrines that are being denied, downplayed or ignored. All Christians have a natural drift to become worldly. Christians have a tendency to want to partake of the sinful things of this world. God wants us to live a godly life in this present evil world. If we do nothing we are more likely to live in our old ways. Ours is an ungodly culture with many enticing things to lure us away from the Lord. Applying God's very words to our lives will keep us close to him and allow us to lovingly live for him in a Christ-rejecting climate.
