About this listen

My name is Chris, and this is a fun and informative discussion of Billboard's Top 3000 songs of all-time, based on rankings from the first Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart in 1958 until the end of the year 2022. Each episode will have me talking about a set of 20 songs in countdown fashion, Casey Kasem style.

Episode 49 discusses songs #2040-#2021, as we inch closer and closer to the #1 song in Billboard History. Artists featured include:

    | The 4 Seasons
    | The Beatles
    | Madonna
    | Miami Sound Machine
    | Genesis
    | Warren G & Nate Dogg
    | Justin Timberlake
    | Eurythmics

The penultimate episode of Season 1, we have some great choruses from great classics throughout the rock era. And power packed, too. 4 #1 hits and 5 #2 hits, we get jiggy, we get lonely, and we give 'em something to talk about.

The Beatles are back with their 4th Number 1 on this countdown, and Genesis strikes with another song off their incredible Invisible Touch album (5 top 5 hits! Bet'cha didn't remember that!). Some wonderful 90's hip-hop and 70's funk, with a little 60's country thrown in, what a lovely ride.

Wonderful nostalgic ride of pop songs from throughout rock history in the greatest countdown podcast ever! Come take a listen! We have fans in over 75 countries and over 1000 cities worldwide!!

I am not affiliated with Billboard nor with American Top 40. Just a huge fan that loves to talk about pop music.

Episode 48 discusses songs #2060-#2041, as we inch closer and closer to the #1 song in Billboard History. Artists featured include:

    | Led Zeppelin
    | Elton John
    | Carrie Underwood
    | Huey Lewis & The News
    | Michael McDonald
    | Lorde
    | INXS
    | Bruce Springsteen

The main theme of this set as we start to close out the first 1000 songs is catchy pop tunes. We have a ton of them, from Huey Lewis to The Dave Clark Five. Even the Boss's entry is a catchy pop tune. 3 more #1 hits are in this round, including the shortest #1 hit of the rock era, time wise (96 seconds!).

The first and ONLY single from Led Zeppelin made this countdown, which one is it? And INXS makes it's countdown debut, another catch pop song! And the master of Yacht Rock, Michael McDonald, makes a rare solo appearance.

I'm recording on location today, from an R&R resort in Puerto Aventura, Mexico! So you might hear birds in the background!

Episode 47 discusses songs #2080-#2061, as we inch closer and closer to the #1 song in Billboard History. Artists featured include:

    | Prince
    | Elton John
    | The Beatles
    | Jay-Z
    | Bee Gees
    | Ke$ha
    | Beyonce
    | Three Dog Night

Some of the real heavyweights coming out to play in this set. See that roster? Some fantastic #1 hits, including the lowest rated #1 song from the Bee Gees out of their 9 #1 hits. Which one is it? An interesting double set of the same song, released simultaneously with different tempos, and a listener's count of their favorite songs featuring the word 'Sun' in the title. Also, the best hit in Billboard History that spent less than 10 weeks in the Top 40 and DIDN'T hit #1! What song meets that criteria??
