When God calls us to something new, our instinct is to keep backup plans. In First Kings 19:19-21, Elisha demonstrates radical commitment by destroying his plowing equipment after receiving Elijah's calling—eliminating any possibility of return. Many believers struggle with fully embracing God's calling because it requires relinquishing control and stepping into the unknown. Like Noah building the ark or the friends lowering the paralytic through the roof, true faith means having no Plan B. God's calling may feel heavy and uncomfortable at first, but spiritual growth requires conditioning and stepping outside our comfort zone. When we cancel our backup plans and trust God completely, we open ourselves to experience the abundant life He promises—a supernatural abundance that goes beyond personal blessing to participating in His mission to reach the world.
