We're breaking format this week to talk to Tyson Ritter of The All-American Rejects about his new venture, Playhouse.band & how he's attempting to disrupt the predatory ticket industry.

Traditional live music has become increasingly commercialized, with high ticket prices, corporate fees, and distant stages creating barriers between artists and their most passionate fans. After a year of touring house parties & pop up shows in alternative venues, Tyson decided to put his personal money into PlayHouse & flip the old model on its head, putting artists in control of their shows and making intimate performances accessible to everyone.

Geneva was named Second Funniest Jew at the 2015 Jewish Comedian of the Year Competition in London. In 2016, she took a half-hour stand up show, “Messed Up,” to the Edinburgh, Camden, and Great Yorkshire fringe festivals. In 2017 she returned to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her half-hour show, “Born with a Bush”. Now living in Oakland with a small tribe of mothers, Geneva performs all over the Bay Area. She placed 3rd in the 2018 Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition (tied with Ryan Goodcase). In addition to writing and performing standup, Geneva is a writer for Killing My Lobster and Nice Tan, two SF-based sketch comedy groups. Her moms love all her jokes except the stupid ones. Well, her dumb mom likes them all. That’s why she’s the favorite.
