  • Five years later, being diagnosed and hearing those words - you have breast cancer
    Mar 7 2022

In this episode, I'm going to be chatting about hearing those words. The words that no woman ever wants to hear, let alone twice. You have breast cancer.

I got two beautiful ladies that looked after me for my biopsy and you'll be pleased to know I didn't pass out!

I walked in and it was Dr. Liang, who, you know, as you know, was my surgeon for the DCIS but I walked in and I said hello. as lovely as it is to see you. I don't think I want to be in here. And Dr. Liang is very straightforward. very matter of fact, but she is also like very empathetic and she's just a very beautiful but she doesn't want to be around the bush. So she you know, she sat me down and she said, you know, like, we've actually found something. It's in the same area. So still it was back in the left breast and it's actually a cancer.

Listen in for the rest of the episode.

  • Being Diagnosed With a DCIS
    Feb 7 2022

Let me take you back in time... It's June 2017 and I'm going for my routine mammogram. I am 47 years of age and I am fit and healthy, or so I thought. I don't know about you but I always dreaded going for my mammogram but knew that it was necessary. I turned up, had my mammogram and left feeling a bit bruised but good because I had done it for another year or so.

  • Tell Me About Your Childhood Best Friend
    Sep 4 2021

My best friend growing up was (and still is) Mandy. She's been part of my life forever.

I'm so grateful and blessed to have grown up with this amazing woman and to have her be part of my world (and that I get to be part of hers too).

Being thousands of miles apart doesn't make a difference - the internet and messaging services makes this possible.

Tell me who your childhood best friend was and what makes him/her memorable.

  • DV - Not Such a Beautiful Conversation (but mine has a happy ending)
    Aug 30 2021

I thought long and hard before telling my DV story. It's not for everyone - it may only be just for me.

However, if you're listening and you are going through DV or someone you know is going through this, know that I hear you. I feel your pain, I hear your cries. I'm a lucky one and I got out. I now have an amazing man who loves me, supports me and would never, ever hurt me.

I want this for you too.

Please ask for help. Please do not stay silent and suffer as I did. I did not tell anyone but I don't want you do that. I want you to be brave, speak out, tell someone, ask for help. There are amazing support mentors out there in the form of non-profits.

If yours is not a happy ending right now, I wish this for you. Find it - search for that light in the darkness, it's there! It really is.

    With love and light,
    Jo xx
