With the Bull Shad Lures Only tournament coming up on Guntersville, we brought Mike Carter back on the podcast to break it all down.

Mike talks tournament details, registration, rules, payouts, and what anglers can expect this weekend. We also spend a lot of time talking about how he fishes Bull Shads this time of year — including river ledges, transition fish, retrieve speed, glide bait techniques, and what he’d look for if he were trying to win the tournament himself.

If you’re planning to fish the event, or just want to learn more about fishing big baits on Guntersville, this one has a lot of useful information.

    Send us Fan Mail

This week we’re joined by longtime Guntersville guide and NPFL pro Alex Davis to talk about what’s really happening on the lake right now. We cover the late spring transition, bream bed fishing, offshore movement, shad spawn changes, and what it may take to win the upcoming Foodland tournament.

We also get into a deeper conversation about how Tuesday nighters and local tournaments have changed over the years—from the old days of 40+ boat jackpots to today’s “pro-style” weeknight events.

Trey shares what he’s seeing on the water, Alex breaks down current Guntersville patterns, and we spend some time talking about how much local tournament fishing has changed over the years.

  • They Got It Done: Trey Swindle & Logan Dyar Win Castin N Catchin
    Apr 30 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

In the last episode, we joked that if Trey won the Castin N Catchin tournament, we’d have to do a follow-up… and here we are.

Trey Swindle and his partner Logan Dyar got it done on Guntersville, putting together over 27 pounds to take the win. Logan couldn’t join us for this one, but Trey walks through how it all came together—from practice and long hours idling to key decisions on tournament day.

We get into shad spawn, offshore fish setting up early, and how they capitalized on the right areas at the right time.
