There's a fine line between "you're so articulate for a Black girl" and growing up censoring yourself. I've walked that line all my life. Being my own tone police, discounting my Blackness making myself smaller in an effort to avoid taking up too much space. Let's turn that on its head. Make room to articulate all of the things... without the filter. The many thoughts, conversations, & ideas that find themselves muted, and untouched, for the sake of respectability politics. Fuck it, let's make room for it all. I hope this space makes all the Black women in this world to feel seen, held, and a little braver about speaking however we please.


Hosted by Tony Award winning advocate and award winning actor Mikayla LaShae Bartholomew, on Articulate - let's break down the silos surrounding the most pressing issues of our time center intersectional stories of resilience and experience as a means of human connection and collective liberation. Without the filter.


Each episode will serve as a communal space to gather, talk shit, grieve, laugh, be ourselves, take action, say fuck you to the tone police and maybe even learn something new (or not).

Conversations that everybody should listen to, with topics spanning relationships, social/institutional change, art, politics, identity, and pop culture. Offering community, lessons and anecdotes we can either take with us or leave at the door.


All led by a Black girl who’s been told to fit in & pipe down for far too long. Because if they gone microagress us, might as well pass us the mic.

    don't nobody call my little sister Big Mya... her nickname is Lulu, entertain her if you want to. welcome my kid sister Mya Lauren Bartholomew to the Articulate fam, y'all! this episode was an adventure to say the least, a lot of fun and recorded in our rental in 90 degree Chicago heat because our granny's house is just SO full of life (you'll hear in the interruptions) that there's no way we could have recorded it anywhere else.


    this will not be the last time I have this gal on and we're eager to hear your thoughts on her presence. we're so different, in how we look at life, what we think about things, in how we process our emotions and experiences. i think that makes for a super dynamic conversation as we find our way through our thoughts on growing up and existing in this world together. we're not perfect, VERY unfiltered, and experts on absolutely NOTHING so here's to having a good time, sharing a laugh and stealing our mama's tequila.
