  • How to Overcome Success - Nicholas Wilton - Ep 170
    Mar 26 2025

https://Art2Life.com - This week, I'm exploring the three primary fears that creatives often grapple with: the fear of failure, the fear of what others will think, and, intriguingly, the fear of success.

I'm sharing how these fears manifested in my life as I transitioned from a commercial illustrator to a fine artist. A period of personal upheaval and the loss of all my work became a catalyst for profound transformation, leading to the birth of Art2Life and my path as a coach and fine artist.

Let go of old mindsets, embrace change, and learn more about art's vital role in this alchemical process of self-discovery and success. Art is not just a product—it's a transformative journey back to your authentic self. So take small steps, play, and keep your vision alive. Whether you're creatively curious or already an experienced artist, this episode will give you some practical steps to help you move past your fears and toward the creative life you're looking for.

I love Nicholas wiltons approach to art making and how he thinks about and shares process. His videos have helped me so so much and made it fun & easier to explore. So wonderful to listen to these podcasts and I admire so much the gentle and receptive style of interviewing. Great insights from it but it's suprising that it's even just hearing people talk about art and to also be connecting on this warm level that I enjoy.

Love Nicholas wilton!

I just discovered the Art2Life podcast today (did a short online course with Nicholas Wilton last year but hadn't moved forward with any of the amazing things I took from it). I picked the interview with Susan Melrath to listen to first, as the title 'On Being You' just leapt off the screen at me. I feel trapped doing commissions, guilty that I feel that way as the portraits are treasured by the lovely customers I've worked with, but I'm bursting with the need for more freedom in my art. Favourite quotes are "Notice what you are noticing" when looking for inspiration around you and also the piece about actually letting go when painting and not just painting what I think "letting go" should look like. The interview is absolutely brilliant. Thanks so much to you both for sharing your personal experiences and your wisdom.
