About this listen

I am a published author, blogger, and freelancer covering topics of all kinds centered around writing. Blogging, self-publishing, and freelancing are the most covered, but I also mix in regular interviews with authors of all types. These are live interviews that I produce on the YouTube channel and have invited indie and represented authors alike. The show is quite relaxed, not safe for work, and often a lot of fun, despite rarely sticking to topic. If you want to be a part of the show, feel free to join me on Mondays at 7PM (MTN) on WriterSanctuary's YouTube channel.Michael Brockbank Art

  • Is GenAI Something to Consider as an Author?
    Jul 25 2025

Generative AI isn't going anywhere, but is it the awesome tool that some seem to think it is? Tonight, I share my thoughts on generative AI and why I prefer to write books and blog posts myself.

There are a lot of reasons why people stay away from generative AI. Of course, there are also a lot of reasons why people might like it. After all, it does have a bit of allure of writing things for you at an extremely fast pace. But is it worth sacrificing morals and ethics just to have quick content?

According to a lot of folk I've talked to online, yes. They would rather have quick content to appease algorithms than have a human professionally craft a great article. Then you have the "authors" who flood Amazon with AI-driven books.

Generative AI has made a mess out of a lot of elements of art. And I find it sad that people would rather take the quick and easy route over learning a skill.

This will probably lose me a lot of subscribers or followers on social media. What thoughts do you have on GenAI? Are there situations in which you would let AI help you in some fashion when it came to producing art of any kind? Let's discuss. My published books are available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/author/michaelbrockbank Check out the merch! https://writersanctuary-shop.fourthwall.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For more information, visit: https://writersanctuary.comMy self-publishing insights are available on Substack: https://michaelbrockbank.substack.com/More About Me: https://MichaelBrockbank.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/WriterSanctuaryInstagram: https://instagram.com/writer.sanctuaryFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/WriterSanctuary/Read Some of My Work at Wattpad: https://www.wattpad.com/user/MichaelBrockbankRead Some of My Work at Inkitt:https://www.inkitt.com/MichaelBrockbank

  • An Evening with DJ Cook and Immane - After Hours with WriterSanctuary
    Jul 12 2025

Tonight, I am joined by DJ Cook, talking about the high fantasy horror role-playing game in development, Immane. This is a current project he and his friends are developing, and it has piqued my interest as I enjoy RPGs. Not to mention that I'm sure it'll spark some fan fiction once it's released.I'm very interested in how the game will flow with the horror base. From what I've read thus far, I'm truly excited to see DJ and his friends create in the near future.Role-playing games have always inspired me to write. This includes the future series of stories I am planning that are based on how actual roles and gameplay advances. So yes, the good guys can lose at the end.If you're interested in joining their Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/ImmaneRPG----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For more information, visit: https://writersanctuary.comMy self-publishing insights are available on Substack: https://michaelbrockbank.substack.com/More About Me: https://MichaelBrockbank.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/WriterSanctuaryInstagram: https://instagram.com/writer.sanctuaryFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/WriterSanctuary/Read Some of My Work at Wattpad: https://www.wattpad.com/user/MichaelBrockbankRead Some of My Work at Inkitt:https://www.inkitt.com/MichaelBrockbank
