Welcome to episode 23 of 5115, our daughter father podcast. This is a short one (comparatively) but we packed a lot in.
Starting with a major milestone: Cass graduated high school people! We also get a little help from our Executive Producer, David B, who runs us through Copilot to see what AI thinks of 5115. (Low production value? How dare you.) Although Lee forgot to turn his mic on for the first 12 minutes or so, so maybe it has a point.
From there, we dive into a handful of bizarre trivia facts, touching on everything from the best-selling book of 1981 and questionable presidential surgeries to Starbucks gift card revenue and the surprising effectiveness of the witness protection program.
Then we’ll get into some musical trash, including Chris Brown’s new, terrible album and the latest three terrible Drake releases. We contrast that with the music we are actually enjoying right now, featuring Broken Social Scene, Trashcan Sinatras, Ween, and the London post-hardcore band Achers. Our movie discussion takes us into the glorious world of late-eighties B-movies with a breakdown of the cult classic Hard Ticket to Hawaii, alongside quick thoughts on Body Double, Crash, and Grease 2.
We wrap things up with a look at our current reading lists, which include Infinite Jest (again) and a deep dive into Peter the Great, before sharing our excitement for an upcoming Strokes concert this July.
Then we finish off with Taylor Swift Podcast Guy, and tackle whether or not any of the Spice Girls could have been replaced.
Dig it.
