سماء شتوية عالية، سقيٌ حذر، وحمّام شمسٍ هادئ

تشعر السماء الشتوية فوق طوكيو اليوم بأنها عالية على نحو غير معتاد —

صافية، باهتة اللون، ومفتوحة على اتساعها.

هذا الصباح، قضيت وقتًا أطول مع البونساي.

سقيته ببطء، وأنا أراقب كيف تستجيب التربة والطحالب.

لم يندفع الماء بعيدًا،

بل استقرّ، متغلغلًا إلى الأسفل،

كأن الجذور كانت تتلقّى بهدوء ما تحتاجه.

بعد ذلك، وضعت البونساي قرب النافذة

لينعم بحمّام شمسٍ قصير.

ليس طويلًا —

فضوء الشتاء لطيف لكنه حاد.

ضوء كافٍ فقط

ليدفئ سطح الطحالب،

وليوقظ الأوراق

من دون أن يدفعها أكثر من اللازم.

بدت الطحالب مرتاحة تحت الضوء،

لين ملمسها،

وثبات لونها.

شعرت الجذع متوازنًا،

والأغصان مسترخية بطبيعتها،

لا متوترة ولا خاملة.

العناية الشتوية دقيقة.قيقة.

لا تغيّرات درامية،

بل تعديلات صغيرة فقط —

ماء في اللحظة المناسبة،

وضوء للمدة المناسبة تمامًا.

هذه القرارات الهادئة

تبني ثقة

بين من يرعى

والشجرة.

A High Winter Sky, Careful Watering, and a Quiet Sunbath**

The winter sky over Tokyo feels unusually high today —

clear, pale, and wide open.

This morning, I spent extra time with the bonsai.

I watered it slowly, watching how the soil and moss responded.

The water didn’t rush away.

It settled, soaking downward,

as if the roots were calmly receiving what they needed.

After that, I placed the bonsai by the window

to enjoy a short sunbath.

Not long —

winter sunlight is gentle but sharp.

Just enough light to warm the surface of the moss,

to wake the leaves without pushing them.

The moss looked relaxed under the light,

its texture softening,

its color holding steady.

The trunk felt balanced,

and the branches rested naturally,

neither tense nor dormant.

Winter care is subtle.

There are no dramatic changes,

only small adjustments —

water at the right moment,

light for just the right amount of time.

These quiet decisions

build trust between caretaker and tree.
