About this listen

Good afternoon. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly. A cold front pushed through yesterday and now it's just. Sitting there. Draped across South Florida like a wet towel on a pool chair. That stalled front is the whole story today. In the next 24 hours. North of it? Gorgeous. Jacksonville's soaking up sunshine with highs near 71 degrees. Drive south to Orlando and Tampa Bay, same deal. Mostly sunny, 77 to 79 degrees. Perfect patio weather. South Florida, you drew the short straw. That dying front overhead means a coin flip on showers and thunderstorms between 11 A.M. and 11 P.M. Miami and Fort Lauderdale top out around 79 degrees, but it'll feel sticky. Keep the umbrella close. Quick morning note. If you were up early in North Florida, you probably drove through fog. Dense patches lingered through 9 A.M. That's cleared out now, but heads up for tomorrow morning too. Beach folks, listen up. High rip current risk at Volusia and North Brevard beaches today. Stay out of the surf. South of Cape Canaveral, moderate risk. Not the day to test your swimming skills. Tonight clears out nicely. Jacksonville cools to 53 degrees. Central Florida settles near 58. South Florida stays balmy at 71. Monday? Sunshine everywhere. but northeast winds kick up along the coast, gusting to 20 miles an hour by afternoon. That onshore breeze sticks around all week. Now the week ahead gets interesting. High pressure locks in and cranks the thermostat. Low 80s Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday. We're flirting with 90 degrees inland. Record highs are on the table. The coast stays cooler thanks to those persistent east winds, but Southwest Florida and inland spots will feel like May showed up two months early. In One bright spot to close on. Sunrise at 6, 52 A.M., sunset at 6:26 P.M. Nearly twelve hours of daylight. Spring equinox is just nineteen days away. I'll be watching those record temps all week. Should be a wild ride. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
