第六回は、第三回にも登場した平家の落人の末裔の90歳のおじいさんの話を中心に語りました。おじいさんが子どもの頃は、家の周りで焼畑をしていたらしい。「杉が生えてない頃は、山が明るいんですわ」という言葉が大変印象的でした。山々の斜面がヒエやアワで輝いていた山の風景は、今想像する薄暗い四国の山奥のイメージとは全く異なります。焼畑の分布、焼畑の変遷、焼畑ってどうやるの？、作物の栽培方法などについて語りました。
写真は聞き取りをしたおじいさんが住む集落の様子。
