Long before Columbus set sail for America, courageous explorers from northern Europe braved the vast, uncharted waters of the Atlantic. These intrepid adventurers were known as Vikings, hailing from the Scandinavian peninsula, which is now home to the united realm of Norway and Sweden. Many of our Norwegian cousins have made the journey to America, seeking a warmer sun and gentler winds. Their fair-haired children are growing up among us, embodying the values their parents hold dear bravery, honesty, kindness to all creatures, and a steadfast commitment to even the smallest duties. These are the lessons instilled in them from childhood, just as they are for their siblings who remain close to the beloved land of rushing rivers, deep bays, and narrow valleys.
