 むかし、水晶のように美しい湖のふちにひとつの小さな村がありました。この村にルルとミミという兄妹が暮らしていました。村唯一の鐘造りであった父親は、音の出ない鐘を造ってしまったことを恥じて、湖へ身をなげてしまいました。ルルは父親に代わって新しい鐘を造りました。妹も村の人々も大喜びでその音を聞くのが楽しみでした。しかし鐘は鳴りませんでした。悲しみにくれたルルは、泣きつかれて眠る妹のミミを残して、父のように湖の底へ自ら沈んでいってしまいました。それから毎日ミミは湖のほとりで泣き続けていましたが、あるとき睡蓮の花がミミに向かっていいました。 花の鎖を作って湖の底にある真珠の御殿へ行きなさい。そこに住む女王様の所に兄はいます、と。ミミは花の鎖を作って、御殿を目指して湖の底へ沈んで行きました。(C)Pan Rolling Asian Genre Fiction Literary Fiction World Literature
