I listened to this story while taking a long, solitary walk through the mountains of Kyoto. It was a religious experience. The images of the protagonist's slow fade are so vividly written, and the narrator to me was absolutely perfect. As the protagonist got weaker and more delirious, the reader's voice got softer as well. This has been an incredible 44 minutes. If you are in the mindset for a dark, but moving short story, I cannot recommend this enough. Make sure you are not overly distracted while listening, as you'll want to be closely following along in order to experience the death throes of the character.
