新たな情報を得たローランド・ベニートは、刑務官の自殺について改めて検討し直す。ウーヴェ・フィンチの正体を確信したローランドは、その事実をアン・ラーセンに伝えることを決意する。ウーヴェ・フィンチの指紋を手に入れたのはアンであり、以前にも警察の捜査に彼女が大きな助けになってくれたことがあったからだ。母親に起こった出来事にショックを受けるバートラム。そこへＴＶ２東ユトランド局の記者アン・ラーセンが現れる。 アンを前にしたバートラムは泣き崩れ、彼女に全てを伝える。アンは彼を連れて逃げようとするが、もはや手遅れだった。カーラジオで新たな死者が出たことを聞いたローランドはアンにも危険が迫っているのではないかと不安になる。彼女に電話をするが、応答がない。電話を受けたローランドは、アンかと期待するが、相手は刑務官の自殺現場にいたレイフ・スコウビーだった。ローランドに会いたいと言うレイフ。そして、レイフの話で全てがついに明らかになる。ローランドはレイフにアンの電話の発信元を突き止めるよう依頼するが、果たして手遅れになる前に彼女を見つけ出せるのか？
クリーナーは全６話の犯罪小説である。 インゲル・ガルメゴー・マドセン（1960年生）はデンマークの作家である。グラフィックデザイナーとしての経歴を持つ。2008年、犯罪小説「Dukkebarnet」で作家デビュー。その後、犯罪のジャンルで数々の小説を執筆している。代表作は「Drab efter begæring」（2009年）、「Slangers gift」（2014年）、「Dommer og bøddel」（2015年）、「Blodregn」（2016年）
