Summary
An SAS unit codenamed Zero 22, operating covertly in the war-torn badlands of Northern Syria, is ambushed and massacred by a small army of mercenaries dressed like Hell's Angels.
Danny Black survives the massacre and back in London learns that his unit was betrayed by a mole feeding high-level military intelligence to the Russians. Like any SAS man worthy of the name, his first thought is to avenge the men who lost their lives on the Zero 22 op.
He has no hesitation in accepting the mission to assassinate the man responsible for the death of his mates. Danny finds himself operating with an MI6 officer, and together they embark on a high-risk, deniable mission that will require all Danny's Regiment.
As the mission unfolds, however, Danny learns that darker forces are at play. He realises that what started out as a simple act of revenge is just a single play in a conspiracy that will take him across continents and pit him against the insidious machinations of the most powerful men in the world.

Danny Black goes for it again!
Such a good audio book. I love Chris Ryan's stories and this is up there with the best. Lots of action, lots of plot twists and a great ending. I liked it most because it turns the usual conventions on their head. I don't want to say too much because of spoilers but the political narrative of this story is by the far the cleverest of Ryan's books. The reader of the audio book was wonderful, he really understood the text and gave it everything. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to it!

Another gem of a book from Chris Ryan and the Danny Black series. Immediate action from the beginning with the brain cinema active while reading brilliant! Looking forward to the next instalment and what Danny Black has install next.

Loved this story
This was a gripping story. Plot developed and I find myself taking the long way home to keep listening. Intelligent, smart story and I enjoy the international components. Listened to a lot in the genre and this did not disappoint. Many thanks!

Terrible Narration
This book was ruined for me by the awful narration which seemed completely at odds with the characters.
The narrator seems to think every person of rank in the security services or forces should sound like some kind of 1940’s Biggles with a massive plum in their mouth, really grated and irritated me to the point of giving up.
