About this listen
Sid Phillips's account of his experiences in the 1st Marine Division fighting on Guadalcanal in the early days of World War II.
©2010 Sid Phillips (P)2011 TantorCritic reviews
"For anyone who cares abou the human dimension of war - its cost and its heroism - Sid Phillips' book is a must-[listen]." (Ken Burns)
Philips seems to skip over the grizzly details of battle in favour of focusing on the thoughts and feelings during his time in the Marines, especially when talking about the lighterhearted momentd he and his fellow Marines experienced. which is a refreshing take on things.
A great wee memoir
