World’s most mundane autobiography

WARNING: This book does not teach you how to write. It is a story about a writer - with exercises. If this book teaches you anything it’s how to deal with the failures and successes of being a writer. Even there, the info is scant:

Lesson 1: how to sit on a chair
Lesson 2: how to sit naked on a chair
Lesson 3: how to deal with the inevitable jealousy of other writers because all you have learned how to do is sit on a chair.

There is more, and sometimes it’s reasonably interesting, but with minor value. The title is very very very misleading, which is why I don’t mind being so negative in this review. I feel fairly cheated.

In summary, if “writers are people who write” sounds like a profound statement with inspiring qualities then this book is for you. If it strikes you as a meaningless tautology with zero instructive value, then buy something else.

Great resource for romance writers!

This book was full of useful advice and information I could use to improve my writing and manage a career in writing romance. I signed my first publishing contract this year and am trying to learn everything I can about how to be successful, and hearing about Jennifer's experiences was very helpful. I will listen to this audio book again and again! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great book on the craft and business of writing romance!

This is not a book for writing assistance

As a published author myself, this book was recommended to me. This should not be advertised by Amazon or Audible as a book to begin writing or further your craft. This book is about the author and what she considers to be the life of a writer. I know more about the author than I do writing now that I've listened. I don't really care to know what she wears when she sits down to write, that she likes to listen to people's conversations at restaurants, etc.
If writing is something that interests you, do not waste your time on this one. This book needs to be advertised differently.

For all writers, especially because of honesty about the business

Kudos to Probst for writing an honest book. I appreciated her deep dive into numbers, writer’s angst, and some other topics that don’t always appear in a discourse/memoir on the business of writing. Enjoyed!

An engaging, humorous, and useful resource.

Write Naked by Jennifer Probst, narrated by Kelsey Navarro, is a candid account of the author's journey to success. Full of honest anecdotes of her mistakes along the way, she provides encouragement and examples of what pitfalls to avoid. Excerpts from her books are shared to demonstrate different elements of craft. The narration was clear and concise, an easy and enjoyable listen. An engaging, humorous, and useful resource that I know I will return to as I move forward in my writing endeavors.

very helpful

I just started my again writing. I've always loved it and would love to right full time. I am on chapter 5 of my first real book and felt I needed a little help. this book gave me the encouragment to keep going. when I would take a small break from my novel, I'd listen to this. she has lots of tips and relatability. With this book, I'm confident I will eventually "finish the damn book!" LOL
