Summary

Write cleaner. Write better stories. Write compelling fiction.

With over 150 books published, Larry Martin and Craig Martelle bring their fiction writing horsepower to you. How are they able to win over their readers? By getting them right where it matters - in books they can’t put down. Larry writes westerns and thriller. Craig writes science fiction. Those genres are far closer than you ever imagined because good writing is universal.

Never give your reader a reason to set your book aside. They may not pick it up again. In the immortal words of Elmore Leonard, “I try to leave out the parts that readers skip.” You should, too.

From plot to characters to pace to description, strengthen your writing to engage your readers on a whole new level. Keep them turning the pages, and when they’ve finished, they’ll be asking you for the next book.

"The trail-tough cowhand rubbed the black whisker stubble on his chin with a knotted callused hand. "That'll do," Ethan said, and laid a nickel on the rough plank. A horse fly buzzed around, inspecting the coin, as Ethan waited."

With examples peppered throughout, Larry and Craig reinforce the main points in a way to make it easier to incorporate into your own writing. Come to the word buffet and when you leave, you won’t be hungry.

There’s no time like the present to start writing better. Get the audiobook Write Compelling Fiction today.

Another compelling book in the series

Write compelling fiction was chock full of tips on how to write a book readers will want to read. It's written by two successful authors with knowledge of a variety of different genres, and contained plenty of examples of what to do and, more importantly, what not to do. I also enjoyed the narrator's voice on this one.

Love this series!

I absolutely love this series, jam packed full of really useful information. Straight talking, no fuss, motivational, and the examples from text are also really helpful. I especially enjoyed the narrator's style which made it super easy to listen to. One to come back to when you need a quick pep talk.

Perfect for beginner writers

Excellent narration. Clear and easy to lusten to.

This book is aimed at beginner writers, breaking down concepts into easily understood chunks and providing examples from the co-authors own writing. Many of these detailed examples are from westerns but it is also explained how to apply the concepts to other genre.

The book is also a great refresher for more experienced writers. I picked up a few gems like putting the most important part of the sentence at the end and remembering to see the scene through the point of view character.
