So auch in der meisterhaften Novelle "Wir töten Stella", einer furiosen und nüchternen Darstellung der Machtstrukturen und -kämpfe in einer Familie, einer eiskalten Bestandsaufnahme einer gescheiterten Beziehung: Aus ängstlicher Bequemlichkeit und dem vergeblichen Wunsch, dem Sohn eine perfekte Familie vorzugaukeln, nimmt eine Ehefrau die Affären ihres Mannes leidend hin. Sie schreitet auch nicht ein, als Richard die neunzehnjährige Stella verführt. Diese nimmt sich schließlich aus Verzweiflung das Leben, und nun fühlt Anna sich mitschuldig, klagt sich an als Komplizin ihres Mannes.
