Lola Kirke’s performance as the author–narrator is fun, engaging, and full of personality. I really enjoyed the voyeuristic glimpse into the lives of posh New York elites - the kind of people you imagine swanning around West Village brownstones - and the book fully acknowledges the privilege on display. It’s not always easy to warm to that world, but that’s partly the point.

Kirke never seems desperate to make herself likeable. The writing is sharp and funny, with a self-aware edge. I’ve seen plenty of “nepo baby” comments, but to me this felt more like an observation of her boho–British upper-classness than anything celebrity-driven.

Overall, an entertaining, witty listen. Perfect if you enjoy character studies with a bit of bite.
