For the first time ever, Melanie C, aka Sporty Spice, tells her amazing life story in her own words and gives a full and honest account of what life was really like in The Spice Girls.

I never told my story before because I wasn't ready. Now, finally, I am.

25 years ago, The Spice Girls, a girlband that began after answering an advert in the paper, released our first single. 'Wannabe' became a hit and from that moment, my life changed for ever.

I was suddenly part of one of the biggest music groups in history, releasing hit after hit, performing to our wonderful fans and spreading the message of Girl Power to the world. It was everything I'd dreamed of growing up, and I've had some incredible times... The BRITs! The movie! Travelling the world playing iconic venues like Madison Square Garden, The O2, Wembley Stadium and The London 2012 Olympics!!!

When you're a woman, though, that power can be easily taken away by those around you, whether by pressure, exhaustion, shaming, bullying or a constant feeling like you aren't enough. I have been known as Sporty Spice, Mel C, Melanie C or just plain old Melanie Chisholm, but what you will read within the pages of this book is who I truly am, and how I found peace with that after all these years.

I have really enjoyed reminiscing and getting everything down on the page, and, though revisiting some of my darkest times was hard, I hope this book can be inspiring and empowering as well as entertaining and give you a bit of a laugh.©2022 Melanie Chisholm (P)2022 Welbeck Publishing Group

This is really a good listen. Mel is so honest and it shows the ups and downs of being a pop star. The grass isn't always greener.

Only half way through, but brilliant

I absolutely loved listening to this. I bought the book but the opportunity to have the author - an actual Spice Girl - read her story to me was one I couldn’t pass up!

As a life-long Spice Girls and Melanie C fan, I was of course going to love this. But I think this would be a great listen for anyone interested in the entertainment industry, pop music and fame.

I am just so happy how at peace with herself she is - be that Melanie C, Sporty Spice, Mel C! What a journey!

Melanie C’s voice is clear, warm and authentic.

Go Sporty! A true Northern Star

At 44 years of age I was one of those people caught up in the spice girl mania in the 90’s. I read the other autobiographies over the years but Mel C always seemed to stay very much in the shadows when it came to talking about herself which is, of course, entirely understandable. So when I listened to this I didn’t know much about her but she really opens up and lays bare her very personal challenges. She tells you about the great stuff and the shit stuff that has happened in her life. She had me completely gripped, it was compulsive listening. Her book will certainly help others facing personal challenges and mental health difficulties. Hats off to Mel for being so frank and honest and open with the listener. The book will also serve as a warning to those fame hungry wannabes (pun intended). I got the feeling with this book that Mel just wanted to perform from a young age as that was her true love and the fame ended up a (often unwanted it would seem) side effect. I love audible autobiographies because it really feels as though the reader is telling their story to you and you get completely immersed. Highly recommend. Oh and could she amend her book to let us know if she did get offered the Cats gig ;-)

Brilliant

I love autobiographies. I love hearing how people have experienced life and what they have learnt along the way. Melanie's was an honest, entertaining and poignant read....I grew up with the spice girls and it was an eye-opener to hear what went on behind the scenes. I have newfound respect for this amazing lady. Thanks for sharing, Melanie, and wishing you great happiness on your journey forward 💛
