Summary

Join SAS legend Phil Campion as he shares his deeply personal life story, warts and all.

In Who Dares Wins, Big Phil Campion reveals his chequered past, from terrible abuse suffered in a string of kids' homes to psychological abuse suffered at a top public school.

Phil guides you through his soldiering career, from the so called 'green army' to the brutal trial of SAS selection and all that followed. This includes years spent providing private military services across war-torn and risk-laden Africa; in between he was body-guarded the likes of Led Zep, Oasis, Kasabian, Dizzy Rascal and Pro Green.

Phil takes you on his gripping, behind-the-scenes adventure acting as a roving reporter for Sky TV in Syria and Northern Iraq, more often than not under fire.

Brave, riveting and truly revelatory, Who Dares Wins is packed full of jaw-dropping stories to quicken the blood, while also telling of the psychological toll a life in conflict took on the author.

Didnt expect this

This audio book has very little to do with his military expeiriences, dont even really cover very much with him in the green army or in special forces
I does use matierial from his previous book, Fearless
To me this is a cry for help, it focuses a lot about his physical and metal abuse as a child
His life as a child does seem pretty horrendous and the sexual abuse he suffered wasnt as bad as some of the other children he was with
When you meet Phil, he is a monster of a man, and its hard to think of anyone abusing him, but he was a child and no way as big
His mental processes must have been all over the place for years
He does stand up for ex soldiers rights, but there are lots of charities doing the same thing, help is there for ex military, but its up to them to seek it out, to me it sounds like he tried but there was no one he could trust, not even during hi military carrer
I joined up in 68, I found that I got no help from the forces or the government when I came out
I could live anywhere, eat anything, could fight in hot and cold weather, jungles, deserts, we just had a job to do and we did it
He is lucky, he is still in touch with his mates, I havent met anyone I served with
I wouldnt have bought this book if I had known it was a cry for help, I'm finding it hard enough to help myself without having providing a shouder for someone else to cry on
But good luck to Phil, I hope he finds and gets the help he so desperatly needs

respect to big Phil

must have taken a lot for Phil to write this but it's very important more people start to speak out and break the stigma around mental health. plenty more good stories from Phils service time also.

Listening to this book made me question my thoughts about judging a person by their look. Phil is a big lump but underneath all that he is quite traumatised by his passed . Will now go and watch Big Phil's war .

Very disappointing.

Struggled to finish it. How often does he use the term "proverbial" in this book.
